SUSTAINABLE OLIVE WOOD HARVESTING

Jerusalem olive wood is one of the rarest forms of olive wood available anywhere in the world. Olive trees are extremely long lived but grow very slowly. For this reason HOLYLAND PENS uses only ‘live harvested’ olive wood.

In an effort to preserve the olive tree legacy dating back to biblical times, HOLYLAND PENS uses only wood harvested from living olive trees.

When olive tree branches reach a usable size, one or two are ‘pruned’ leaving the rest of the tree intact. The cut portion remaining on the tree is expertly treated to stop infection or fungal damage, allowing the tree to continue growing for a normal life cycle (up to several thousand years).

In this way the Jerusalem olive trees are tended and cared for while giving us all the chance to own pens of unique beauty.
